Learning Highlights
The following is a list of highlights we will focus on per subject throughout the year:
- Reading: Character, point of view, central idea and details, text structure, critical thinking, locating and citing evidence
- Writing: Paragraph writing (main ideas, details and elaboration), Expository (to explain), Argumentative (to persuade), Narrative (tell a story ), Word Work (synonyms, antonyms, multiple meaning words, context clues, affixes)
- Math: Place value and Rounding, Add/Subtract Multi-Digit Numbers, Multiplication, Fractions, Represent and Interpret Data, Perimeter and Area
- Science: The scientific process, The Universe, Matter, Energy, Plants, Living Things
- Social Studies: Map study, Civics and Government, Geography, Economics
