Principal's Message

Hello South Daytona Dragon Family!

At SDE we dream BIG and do RIGHT. Every student MATTERS here and every moment COUNTS. This is the HOME of the Dragons. We embody these beliefs daily as our teachers, staff, families, and administrators work together to provide the best educational opportunities for our students.

We are a large elementary school in Volusia County as we serve an average of 800 students. Our current 3-Year-Old through 5th grade academic programs include general education and exceptional student education (mild varying exceptionalities, autism spectrum disorder, and pre-kindergarten). We also service a VPK unit.

Our goal is to educate the whole child, and for learning to continue even beyond the completion of the school day. We offer a wide variety of afterschool opportunities for students to participate in to include tutoring, Tippi Toes Dance, STEAM club, Girls on the Run, and Cheerleading Club.

We value and appreciate our partnership with your family, our community, and our school. We welcome volunteers and if you are interested in serving, we would welcome you to our campus whenever you are available. Volunteer applications are available online or you can reach out to our office for more information.

Our school is very active on social media. We encourage you to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter as we frequently share events and happenings from across our campus. We do send paper announcements as well, but we also post them directly to our social media accounts too.

I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to support your child throughout their educational journey, and we are looking forward to a successful school year here at South Daytona Elementary!
